"Flight of the Bumblebee" was composed by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov for his opera The Tale of Tsar Saltan in the late 19th century. Although it was only used incidentally in the opera, it has since become one of the most familiar pieces of classical music and earned a place in popular culture thanks to its speed and perceived difficulty. The piece is distinctive for its use of the chromatic scale to evoke the frantic flying of a bumblebee.
