Also known as Darth Vader's Theme, the Imperial March is one of the most recognizable pieces of music from the Star Wars universe. It was composed by John Williams and first appeared in The Empire Strikes Back (1980). The theme was influenced by existing compositions by classical composers Chopin and Holst. The Imperial March is used as a leitmotif, recurring throughout the Star Wars films to represent the tyrannical Empire, Darth Vader, and Anakin Skywalker.
