How to play Eye of the Tiger on Saxophone

On this page, we'll be learning how to play Eye of the Tiger by Survivor on Alto Saxophone, Tenor Saxophone, Baritone Saxophone or Soprano Saxophone!

Eye of the Tiger was born when the band Queen turned down a request to use their song "Another One Bites the Dust" as the theme song for Rocky III. Sylvester Stallone instead approached rock band Survivor to write something with a similar sound. The opening riff was written to be in time with the punches being thrown on screen, and the song's title was inspired by a line in the movie: "You had that eye of the tiger, man, the edge... You gotta get it back."

Released in 1982, Eye of the Tiger spent fifteen consecutive weeks in the top ten and remains an evergreen hit. It has even been translated into Latin with the title Oculus Tigris.
